Larger chunkier size of blue slate, especially good for ground cover and rockeries. Has a few plum and green pieces in for a natural open textured finish. Blue is the flatest slate we have and 40mm can settle down very well on drives or paths with a good coarse texture whilst packed down firmly. As with the 20mm it is crushed from waste slate stockpiles in Wales, the colour can vary, but it’s variation is what makes this slate nice. Also known as Welsh Blue Slate or Heather Slate. Best layed 5-6cm deep or slightly deeper on drives the actual size ranges from 15-50mm.
