Larger chunky slate the best size for ground cover and rockeries. Gives a good natural scree type finish whilst quite flat and easy to walk on. Many people use the 40mm for drives as it will last longer than 20mm. Much bolder and chunkier and will take longer to settle down. Also known as Welsh Plum Slate. Best layed 5-6cm deep or slightly deeper on drives the actual size ranges from 15-50mm.
